Man injured as outlaws fire at Hindu family’s car

SUKKUR: A man suffered gunshot wounds when a Hindu family, returning to Mirpur Mathelo in their car after attending annual mela of Baba Shri Ramdev in Kandhkot district, came under fire by a gang of motorcycle-riding dacoits in Malheer area on the Indus Highway on Friday when the driver ignored their signal to stop and tried to speed away.

The family members said that when their car’s driver tried to speed away, the gangsters opened indiscriminate fire at the vehicle to force it to stop. As soon as the car came to a stop the outlaws robbed the family and escaped, they said.

They said that three bullets had hit Dr Shevak Kumar. They drove him to civil hospital where doctors provided him emergency medical treatment and referred him to Sukkur hospital due to his precarious condition, they said.

Meanwhile, a large number of members of Hindu Meghwar community reached the civil hospital and staged a demonstration against police’s failure to establish peace across the district. No police officials had reached the hospital to collect details about the incident, they said.

Man killed in clash

A man was killed and four others were injured on Thursday when two rival groups of the Jatoi community attacked each other over a piece of agricultural land in the village of Manik Jatoi near Gaheja area of Madeji town in Shikarpur district.

The dead was identified as Nawab Jatoi and one wounded as Abdul Razzaq Jatoi while the names of the other injured could not be identified.

According to detail, they had an old enmity and on Thursday the situation went out of control and they attacked each other with weapons.
