SAHIWAL: Kameer, Okanwala Bangla, and Fateh Sher police have booked eight suspects, arresting three of them, for allegedly physically assaulting and threatening four women in separate incidents.

The suspects were charged under sections 354, 506 and 324, of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) and Section 25 of the Telegraph Act, 1860.

As per police, in the first incident, a woman ‘A’ was attacked by a youth, Sajan and his mother, Iram Bibi, while she was returning home with fodder at 121/9-L village. On being attacked ‘A’ offered resistance and admonished the armed suspect, who resorted to aerial firing.

On hearing gunshots and the victim’s cries for held, locals came to her rescue upon, while the attackers fled the scene.

Police arrest three of the suspects in different areas

In Fateh Sher Colony, two suspects, Akram and Riaz, physically assaulted Riaz Bibi when she went to her friend’s house to recover a loan amount of Rs15,000.

Riaz Bibi was rescued by the Fateh Sher police after they were called by a passerby.

in the third incident, Kameer police arrested Jabbar and Abdul Ghaffar for continuously threatening Mumtaz Bibi and her son over the telephone and through social media platforms at 120/7-R.

In the fourth incident, a woman ‘S’, a resident of 46/12-L village, was allegedly harassed by two goldsmith brothers, Asger and Akbar, when she went to their shop to demanded money which they owed her for the gold she had given them two months back.

According to the complainant woman, the suspects abused her and threw her out of the shop. Fateh Sher police registered a case against the two brothers, who fled the scene.

PROTEST: Residents of 7-R village blocked on Saturday night the Chichawatni-Faisalabad Road for two hours, in protest against the police’s failure to check rising incidents of dacoity in the area.

They chanted slogans against the police, alleging lack of patrolling in the area.

According to protesters, in the latest incident, a shop owner, Ahmed, was robbed of Rs15,000 cash and motorcycle by unknown dacoits who had set up a picket near 110/7-R village. Ahmed was returning home after closing his shop in Chichawatni city.

They said the dacoits also tortured Ahmed for offering resistance.

Following the incident, the village residents blocked the road for traffic for two hours.

On being informed of the situation, Chcihawatni ASP Muhammad Maaz held negotiations with the protesters and assured them of increased patrolling in the area.
