Bisham residents call for early repair of water pipeline

SHANGLA: Bisham city residents have complained of water shortage for the last one week after a landslide damaged a pipeline in Nogram area of Karora.

Residents, including traders, said that water supply to houses, offices and bazaars remained suspended for last one week.

Nisar Ahmad, a resident, said that the public health engineering department, instead of using heavy machinery to remove the rubble, had hired daily wage workers to remove the landslide manually, which would further aggravate the residents’ misery.

He said that the entire bazaar, including hotels, restaurants and mosques, were without water supply.

Rehmatulllah, another resident, said that he had to suspend work on his under-construction house for want of water.

He said that officials of the department concerned said that an excavator was required for immediate removal of rubble, which had buried the main supply line.

Mohammad Zada, Bisham trade union president, asked the local administration to ensure early repair of the water supply line.

ACCIDENT: Four people, including a private television reporter, were injured when a mini jeep plunged into a ravine in Chichlo area of Bisham tehsil here on Saturday night.

Dr Salahuddin Ayubi, deputy medical superintendent at the District Headquarters Hospital, Alpuri, told reporters that four injured, including the reporters of a Pashto language TV channel, were brought to the facility from Chichlo area.

He said that the injured were provided with emergency treatment. He said that the TV reporter was discharged from the hospital after provision of first aid as his condition was stable.

Local residents said that the accident occurred due to bad condition of the road.
