Three shot over kite flying dispute

KARACHI: Three people were shot at after a scuffle among children over kite flying turned violent in Korangi on Sunday night, police said.

Workers of two political parties became involved in the petty dispute resulting in a violent clash and bullet injuries to Shan Faqeer, 25, Kashif Qasim, 30, and Ejaz Khan, 25 in Sector-48-C.

The injured were taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre.

The police said that a scuffle broke out between children over kite flying in which elders also became involved.

Zaman Town police SHO Ateeq Rehman said it was not a “political clash” between the Pakistan Peoples’ Party and Mutt­ahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan, but their workers got involved in it.

He said the condition of all the injured was out of danger.

Two brothers shot

Two teenage brothers were shot in Machar Col­ony early on Sunday morning.

Docks police said that Sameer Alam, 12, and Sanaullah Alam, 14, were riding a motorcycle when unidentified suspects opened fire on them near Azad Mohalla.

The police said that electricity had gone out in the area at the time of the incident. The exact motive for firing could not be ascertained immediately.

The wounded brothers were taken to the Civil Hospital Karachi where their condition was stated to be out of danger.

According to Docks police SHO Nafeesur Rehman, one brother sustained a bullet wound in his abdomen.
