Shangla police arrest man impersonating army major

SHANGLA: The police on Monday arrested an impostor along with four accomplices for impersonating a Pakistan Army major and recovered arms and ammunition, a fake identity card and SIM cards from his possession.

Alpuri sub-divisional police officer Shah Hussain disclosed this to reporters during a presser, where the impostor and his accomplices were also presented before the media.

Mr Hussain said a police mobile intercepted a speeding pick-up vehicle at the Chatri turn after it sped away when the police signaled it to stop at Shangla Top checkpost. He said the vehicle was coming from Swat.

SDPO Hussain said upon inquiry, the man seated behind the steering introduced himself as an army major Imran Ali. “During further interrogation, the person said he was a source for an intelligence agency, but failed to produce documents to corroborate his claim that increased the police’s suspicion.”

Also arrest his four accomplices, recover arms, fake ID, SIM cards

The police officer said during search of the vehicle they found a fake identity card, six photos of the man in army uniform, nine SIM cards, 14 cheques of different banks and three mobile phones.

He said they also recovered a rifle, a roll of wire, thee magazines, 30 cartridges and a 9mm pistol.

He said the suspect was booked by the Buner police in similar case some years ago.

He said Imran Ali belonged to Sargay area of Puran, while his accomplices were identified as Arifullah, Haroon Khan and Rehman Ali of Swat.

The police lodged an FIR against the suspect and his accomplices and began further interrogation.

ACCIDENT: A man died and two others were injured when a pick-up truck fell into a ravine in Kabalgram area of Martung tehsil here on Monday evening.

Residents said the vehicle loaded with goods and was on way from Thakot area of Battagram to Dedal Kamach here.

They said the vehicle’s driver, Adalat Khan died on the spot.

They said the injured was shifted to District Headquarters Hospital of the neighbouring Torghar District.

Meanwhile, on the request of the elders and instruction of the education department, the management of government high school, Danakol, Chakesar, re-enrolled the students, who were expelled for making TikTok videos in the school.

The decision was taken after a meeting between local notables and school management here on Monday. The students promised to avoid bringing mobile phones to school.
