LAHORE: “So considerate for his nation that he did not like to bother them by giving out the seriousness of his illness, the Quaid-i-Azam fought [the] last battle of his life single handed,” said Dr. Riaz Ali Shah, the well-known T.B. specialist (who had been in attendance on the Quaid during his last days), at a meeting tonight [Sept 14] held under the auspices of the Punjab Muslim Students Federation in connection with the Quaid-i-Azam’s death anniversary. Mr Justice M.R. Kiani presided.

Giving some glimpses of the Quaid’s last days, Dr Shah said that the Father of the Nation had always been proud of Pakistan, so much so that “Pakistan” was one of the last intelligible words he uttered. — News agencies

[Meanwhile, according to a staff correspondent from Karachi,] A skating rink, merry-go-round, open-air cinema and a restaurant run by ladies will be some of the features of the Pakistan Industrial Exhibition opening on Sunday [Sept 18]. There will be no items of gambling in the exhibition. … This is the first exhibition perhaps of its kind that will have about 100 telephones. Another notable feature … is that all shop signs are in Urdu.
