Man, son killed over enmity
NAROWAL: A long-standing enmity led to the killing of a man and his son, while their nephew was injured in a shooting incident in Chak Mirda village, Zafarwal.
Fifty-year-old Zahid and his 17-year-old son Zakir were killed while their nephew Zain Ali was injured. The suspects fled.
Rescue 1122 shifted Zain to the Zafarwal Tehsil Headquarters Hospital.
Police, on being alerted, arrived at the scene and recorded evidence and statements from eyewitnesses and shifted the bodies to the hospital for a postmortem examination.
Local resident Hafeez said the attackers and victims were related and had a history of conflict. Three years ago, the slain party had killed three people. Despite a recent reconciliation between the two parties, tensions remained high.
Police are trying to track down the culprits. No FIR was registered at Zafarwal police station till the filing of this report.
SUSPECT KILLED: A murder suspect was killed in firing by his accomplices who attacked a police team to get his released from custody near Chauhar Munda village, Pasrur, on Wednesday.
According to police spokesman, a Qila Kalrawala investigation team was taking Imran, who was accused of murder, attempted murder, and other serious crimes, to recover weapons. Near Chauhar Munda, five unidentified suspects confronted the police team and demanded the release of Imran while opening fire on the officials. The police returned fire, taking cover behind a mobile police van.
The spokesperson said the suspects fled under the cover of darkness while continuing to shoot. He said Imran was critically injured by the gunfire of his accomplices. The police van was also damaged during the exchange.
Before dying from his injuries, Imran identified the attackers as Ramzan alias Jana (his brother), Arif alias Arifi, Muhammad Jameel (his brother-in-law), and two unknown men. He was being shifted to the hospital in a police van for first aid, but succumbed to his injuries on the way.
A first information report has been registered against the five suspects, including Ramzan, Arif, and Muhammad Jameel, on the complaint of Sub-Inspector Muhammad Shahbaz.
Kashif Mehmood confirmed that Imran was killed in firing by his accomplices while in police custody. The body has been moved to Pasrur Tehsil Headquarters Hospital for autopsy.
District Police Officer Rana Umar Farooq has ordered immediate arrest of the attackers. Raiding teams, led by the Pasrur DSP, have been formed to arrest the suspects.
