Motorcyclist drowns in Soan River

RAWALPINDI: A motorcyclist slipped into Soan River and was swept away while a body of a teenage boy was found lying on the bank of Leh Nullah on Friday.

According to Rescue 1122, Mohammad Aftab, 27, was crossing a small bridge over Soan River on his motorcycle in the limit of Chauntra when he slipped into the water and was swept away.

The emergency staff reached the spot and started a search operation. However, the search was suspended due to darkness and it will be started on Saturday morning.

In another incident, the body of a teenage boy who had been missing since yesterday night was found lying on the bank of Leh Nullah in Mehr Colony, Ratta Amral on Friday.

According to the rescue service, the deceased was identified as Naseerullah, 12, a resident of Fauji Colony Pirwadhai. He went missing yesterday after he left his house. His parents sought police help but could not find his clue till his body was discovered lying on the bank of nullah.

According to the elder brother of the deceased, he was collecting scrap from Leh Nullah and a patient of epilepsy. The police removed his body to the District Headquarters Hospital for postmortem.

Meanwhile, a truck driver transporting fruit from Chakwal to Rawalpindi was robbed of cash and cell phone by two unidentified motorcycle riders near Chauntra area on Friday.

Mohammad Irfan, a resident of Chakwal lodged a complaint with the police saying that he was transporting fruit from Chakwal to Rawalpindi in his truck via Chak Beli Road.

He said when he reached near a bridge, he found two unidentified motorcycle riders blocking the road and forced him to stop.

He said as he stopped his truck, he was taken at gunpoint by the two who forcibly snatched his cell phone and Rs33,000 before disappearing from the scene.
