ELECTRICITY BILL

ELECTRICITY BILL: A couple of months ago, I had applied for a name change on the electricity bill. The name was changed consequently, but the CNIC number was not added. It is shocking for me because I had submitted a duly attested copy of the CNIC along with other relevant documents. I guess the only reason K-Electric (KE) did not add the CNIC number is that it wants to continue charging the withholding tax even though I am a filer. Besides, since the name change, bill’s hard copy delivery at home has been stopped. I really wonder why this is happening.

FUMIGATION DRIVE: After the recent rains, the population of mosquitoes has surged dramatically in and around Rafiq Mahesar village located in Lal Bux Kandhro union council (UC) of Khairpur district. The stagnant water is providing an ideal breeding ground for mosquitoes, leading to an increase in vector-borne diseases, such as dengue fever and malaria. This has caused considerable distress. Despite the urgency of the situation, the anti-mosquito fumigation drive has yet to be effectively implemented in the village. The district and UC administration should prioritise this matter of public health, and start an effective fumigation drive without any further delay. This will eliminate diseases and provide a healthy and conducive environment for life.

RUMPUS: The wording of an adjourn-ment motion moved by the ruling party’s member of provincial assembly in Sindh created a rumpus as it counted Biharis as illegal immigrants alongside Afghans and others. The Biharis, who migrated to East Pakistan in 1947, proudly called themselves Pakistanis, and in 1971 helped Pakistan Army against Mukti Bahini and the Indian army. When Dhaka fell, these Pakistanis remained stranded in camps except those who had the means to travel to Pakistan. Now they are living in refugee camps, as Pakistan has refused to accept them as Pakistanis.
