School roof collapse: education CEO removed

MUZAFFARGARH: Following a roof collapse incident in a private school in Wasandewali area on Thursday, the deputy commissioner has surrendered the services of Education CEO Tariq Habib and asked him to report to the education secretary.

A case has been registered against school owner Saif Ali under section 322, 288 and 337H by the Rohillanwali police station.

The collapse left a student dead and six injured.

The owner had started the construction of a room on the upper floor without seeking permission. The ceiling of the old classroom could not bear the weight and collapsed.

Buildings executive engineer Mohammed Ali said the structure certificate of the Aligarh school was fake.

An inquiry was ordered against ex-CEO Tariq Habib on the order of the chief minister.

gang-raped: A high school student was kidnapped and later gang-raped by gangsters in the Shah Jamal police limits.

According to the first information report (FIR), a 15-year-old high school student was kidnapped by two named suspects and two unidentified accomplices, who later gang-raped him.

The suspects threatened to release a video of the rape if he spoke out. The video eventually was uploaded on social media sites.

His family approached the police and a case was registered against the two named suspects and their two unidentified accomplices under sections 292-C, 375-A and 367-A of the Pakistan Penal Code. However, the police have yet to arrest them.

Another alleged rape survivor, a native of Jangla and resident of Mehrpur, has come forward with similar allegations.

Despite regular visits to the police station over the past week, the Shah Jamal police have yet to register a case, even though the suspects have already made the video of the rape public.

The gang, which is locally referred to as ‘corrupt nobles’ has been terrorising the area, kidnapping students and subjecting them to violence at gunpoint. The suspects have dodged arrest despite two cases registered against them, including attempted murder and firing, at the Khangarh police station. They continue to spread fear by sharing images of themselves with weapons.

When contacted, the district police officer said a police team has been ordered to arrest the suspects soon.
