Man who unleashed dog on minor girl arrested

BAHAWALNAGAR: A landlord, who had allegedly unleashed dog on a minor girl a couple of days back in Model Town here, was arrested on Sunday.

As per police sources, nine-year-old seminary student Muneeba, a resident of Model Town, was going home around 8pm on Sept 26, when the landlord allegedly unleashed his pet dog on her in front of his house.

The dog mauled the girl, badly injuring her head, face and other body parts.

She was admitted to the district headquarters hospital.

A case against the suspect was registered with B Division police under Section 289 of the PPC on the complaint of the victim’s father Arshad Ali, a rickshaw driver.

B Division police arrested the suspect on Sunday.

COPS BOOKED: Four policemen of Haroonabad police were booked on Saturday after a theft case suspect escaped from custody while he was being brought in a court for hearing.

As per the FIR registered on the complaint of SHO Majid Hussain, a suspect Ghulam Mustafa

of 74/4R village, who was facing trial in a case registered under sections 379, 201 of the PPC escaped from police custody when he was being brought to court for hearing.

It say that the accused escaped due to the negligence of the police team.

City Police booked in-charge ASI Abdul Qadir, Head Constable Tariq and constables Ashraf and Umar under Sections 223, 224 and 155C of the PPC and started investigation.

RADIO LAB ROBBERY: B Division police have failed to arrest the robbers who looted Radio Lab of a public school and thrashed the security guard after taking him hostage at gunpoint four days ago.

An education official requesting anonymity told Dawn that in the wee hours of Sept 26, two armed men forced their entry into the Radio Lab of the Government Comprehensive School and took security guard Nasir hostage at gunpoint.

They also thrashed the guard when he offered resistance.

The men then cut the lock of the lab, removed components of three radios and two TV sets and fled away in a car, he added.

A case was registered the same day with B Division police on the complaint of lab in charge Muhammad Arshad under Sections 457 and 380 of the PPC.

However, could not trace and arrest the thieves so far, the official says.

SHO B division was not available for his comments.

An official of the DPO office said that investigation into the matter was ongoing.
