Swabi CCTV network dysfunctional after police station blast

SWABI: The network of the district police closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras has completely collapsed following a blast in the Swabi city police station on Friday last, officials toldDawnon condition of anonymity here on Thursday.

The CCTV system was being operated from one of the rooms in the city police station. When the blast occurred, the room was also razed to the ground, the officials said, adding that now they did not have a system to monitor key offices in the district headquarters. They said that about 800 CCTV cameras were operating in the district.

“The CCTV cameras in the entire district were linked with the system in the city police station, but the blast blew up the system,” said an official.

The city police station has temporarily been shifted to the old offices of the district bar association after the blast.
