KARACHI: “This third Id should be construed to mean that the Almighty has been pleased to accept the sacrifices undergone by our nation during the last two years. It connotes God’s will that our nation would live, as Hazrat Ismail did,” says Khwaja Nazimuddin, Governor-General of Pakistan, in a message to the nation at the occasion of Id-ul-Azha. Khwaja Nazimuddin adds: “This is the third Bakr Id after the birth of Pakistan. The first Id was a great trial for the Muslims all over Pakistan and India. The second Id-ul-Azha came to us at a time when the nation was grief-stricken at the death of the Quaid-i-Azam. …

“Today the social structure of our nation is strong. The soundness of our economy can be gauged by the fact that while many countries in the world have been forced by circumstances to devalue their currencies, Pakistan has decided not to devalue her rupee.” …
