Curriculum for KTH house officers launched

PESHAWAR: The first-ever curriculum for the house officers of Khyber Teaching Hospital was launched here on Friday.

The historic milestone was achieved at the closing ceremony of the Khyber Medical College International Research Conference 2024.

This groundbreaking initiative, organised and developed by Dr Iqbal Haider, associate dean research KMC and chairperson postgraduate curriculum evaluation and implementation committee, Khyber Teaching Hospital, marks a new era in medical training and patient care in the province.

The curriculum underwent rigorous development and evaluation, receiving approval from every clinical department at KTH, according to press release.

Dr Farooq Ahmad, director medical education KMC, and associate professor Dr Mohsin Shafi of the pathology department, played key roles as contributors in this important project.

Associate dean postgraduate, KTH, Prof Wazir Mohammad also played a pivotal role in the development of this curriculum.

Speaking at the ceremony, Prof Mahmud Aurangzeb, Dean KMC, praised the tireless efforts and leadership of Dr Iqbal Haider in developing and implementing this pivotal document. He congratulated KMC and KTH for becoming the first institutions in KP to pioneer this essential curriculum, which would significantly improve the quality of patient care and enhance the training of house officers across the province.

The launch of this curriculum is expected to elevate medical education standards and ensure that future healthcare professionals in KP are better equipped to meet the challenges of modern medical practice.
