AI-driven chatbot for hypertension management

KARACHI: In a move to facilitate more than 32.5 million people suffering from hypertension across the country, healthcare bodies have joined hands with technologists to launch the artificial intelligence-powered “Heart Line Chatbot,” aimed at guiding patients from basic information to treatment.

A joint initiative of Discovering Hypertension and the Pakistan Hypertension League, the chatbot was launched during the 27th Annual Conference of the Pakistan Hypertension League (PHL), offering a much-needed digital solution in a country where only 11 per cent of hypertensive patients have their condition under control, according to the organisers.

Speaking at the launch, Prof Fawad Farooq highlighted the importance of digital healthcare solutions, calling it a breakthrough for Pakistan’s hypertensive population.

“This AI-based chatbot is a breakthrough, especially given that 88pc of patients are not managing their condition effectively. It will provide patients with immediate access to information about hypertension and its management.”
