PTI MPA from Bajaur, others ‘missing’, claims his son

BAJAUR: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf MPA Anwarzeb Khan along with nine others, including five police guards, has been missing since Saturday night when he was returning to Peshawar after participating in the Islamabad protest, claimed his elder son here on Sunday.

In a video message issued to the local media, Sikandarzeb Khan, who is also senior vice-president of PTI’s local chapter, alleged that his father along with four companions and five police guards was returning to Peshawar from Islamabad for attending the provincial assembly session when he was allegedly arrested by the Punjab police in the Attock district on Saturday night.

Sikandar claimed that his father and his companions had been shifted to an undisclosed place by the Punjab police soon after their “illegal detention”, so no contact had been established with them.

Terming the arrest of his father and his companions an unlawful act of the Punjab police, the PTI leader asked the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly speaker to take serious notice of the incident and issue production orders of the MPA with immediate effect.

Meanwhile, Dr Hamidur Rahman, another PTI MPA from Bajaur, on Sunday said efforts were underway for the early release of Anwarzeb, his companions and other party workers from Bajaur.

In a post on his Facebook account, Dr Rahman said: “He was in close and continued contact with party leadership and Insaf Lawyers Forum to ensure early release of MPA Anwarzeb and other party workers from Bajaur, who have been detained by the Punjab police.”
