LAHORE: The Rahim Yar Khan police killed Katcha area gunmen Nasir, alias Meela Lathani, and Tariq Jhkarani, allegedly involved in the martyrdom of Constable Akbar Gopang.

According to the police, the operation was launched in the Chowk Shahbazpur area after receiving intelligence on the presence of the criminals. Seeing the police, the gunmen opened fire. In the ensuing gunfight, both criminals were killed. They were wanted for the killing of police officials, firing at police and robbery.

The police recovered heavy weaponry and hundreds of rounds of ammunition from the deceased dacoits, while some accomplices managed to flee into the fields under the cover of darkness. A large-scale search operation is ongoing in the area.

The operation was conducted in the presence of SHO Rana Ramzan from Ahmadpur Lamma and Bhong CIA in charge Jibran Jirad, supported by bulletproof vehicles, modern weapons, and elite commandos.
