800Gbps WDM system launched

ISLAMABAD: The country’s first 800 Gbps per wavelength for faster and more efficient internet connectivity has been launched by the PTCL.

The new Wavelength Division Multiplexing (WDM) system, termed the Super C+L, enables a data transmission capacity of 64 terabytes per second (Tbps) per fibre, with the potential to reach up to 96 Tbps, marking a step forward for Pakistan’s digital infrastructure.

Super C+L system has been developed in collaboration with Huawei, and it supports a broader optical spectrum of up to 12 Terahertz against 4.8 THz provided by traditional systems.

The company has announced that the new system’s launch was in line with the preparations for future technologies like Fixed 5.5G and enabling faster, smarter, and more efficient connectivity.
