FIA told to name prosecutor in Imran’s new Toshakhana case without delay
ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Wednesday directed the FIA to appoint a prosecutor immediately to argue on the bail petitions of former prime minister Imran Khan and his spouse Bushra Bibi in the Toshakhana case related to a Bulgari jewellery set.
Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb heard the couple’s bail petitions.
The FIA alleged the set, including a necklace, earrings, bracelets, and rings, was purchased allegedly at a low price, causing a significant loss to the exchequer.
The defence counsel Barrister Salman Safdar said questioned why two separate cases were being pursued with the same allegations and witnesses.
IHC summons IGP over ‘disappearance’ of PTI lawyer
Deputy Attorney General Arshad Mahmood Kayani sought more time to appoint the prosecutor, but Justice Aurangzeb said the case would proceed without further delay.
The judge said the notice had already been issued and asked FIA to appoint a prosecutor promptly and adjourned the hearing to Thursday (today).
Meanwhile, IHC Chief Justice Aamer Farooq summoned the IGP Islamabad on a petition seeking recovery of PTI lawyer Intizar Hussain Panjhuta.
The petition stated that Mr Panjhuta went missing a day earlier and his mobile phone was switched off since then.
Justice Farooq directed the counsel to lodge an FIR against his disappearance first and summoned the IG for Thursday.
