Shangla man held for assaulting minor boy

SHANGLA: A four-year-old boy was allegedly assaulted and injured by his neighbour in Sanila area of Puran tehsil here on Wednesday, police said, adding the suspect had been arrested.

Aloch police station SHO Bakhtzeb Khan told Dawn on phone that Sameer, a resident of Sanila, brought the injured boy to the police station, stating that he was assaulted by his neighbour, Amani Room.

Police took the boy to Pir Mohammad Khan Shaheed Hospital, Aloch, for medical examination, and later lodged an FIR against the suspect on the complaint of Sameer, he said.

The complainant told the police that the suspect took the child to his home, where he assaulted him.

He said the victim’s father had gone to fields and his mother to relatives’ house, and the child was alone at him home.

SHO Khan said the initial medical report also confirmed the assault on the minor.

He said they lodged case against the suspect under section 376 of Pakistan Penal Code and 53-A of Child Protection Act.

Meanwhile, all primary schoolteachers’ association, Shangla chapter on Wednesday demanded of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government to fulfill its promise of regularising the services of ad hoc teachers and upgrading the others.

The demand was made during a meeting held at the District Headquarters Hospital, Alpuri.
