MPA claims surviving armed attack

RAWALPINDI: A member of the Punjab Assembly on Wednesday claimed that his convoy was ambushed by his rivals in the limit of Chontra police station, damaging their vehicles.

Hammad Ali, a resident of Adiala Road, lodged an FIR with Chontra police saying that he and MPA Chaudhry Naeem Ijaz were on their way to inaugurate a road project. When they were passing through Sihal near Army Public School, some armed men of his rival Mushtaq Anwar ambushed their convoy.

He said a bullet hit Chaudhry Ijaz’s vehicle damaging its windshield. Chaudhry Naeem Ijaz and his friend Yasir Qayyum were on board the vehicle when it came under attack.

Another bullet hit the car in which Malik Amjad was traveling, however, they survived the attack.

He said the motive behind the attack was business rivalry. He claimed that the armed guards attacked them on the instruction of Mushtaq Anwar and Ijaz Anwar.

Police said that nobody was injured in the attack that took place in the limits of Chontra police station. Police have registered a case under terrorism act and attempted murder.
