Over 5,400 take SAU entry test

HYDERABAD: A total of 5,426 candidates appeared in the test for admission to the Sindh Agriculture University (SAU), Tandojam, which has offered undergraduate courses for the academic year 2024-25. Among them were 955 female candidates.

The centres for the test were established at Public School Hyder­abad, Public School Sukkur, SAU Campus Umerkot and Balochistan University of Information Techno­logy, Engineering and Management Sciences, Quetta.

According to the SAU administration, 4,091 candidates, including 631 female, took the test in Hyderabad. At Umerkot campus, 579 male and 77 female candidates took the test while 566 male and 57 female candidates appeared in the test held in Sukkur. In Quetta, 54 male and two female candidates appeared in the test.

The paper consisted of 100 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) which candidates had to answer within 100 minutes.

The seat allocation for successful candidates includes 1,785 on the main campus, 318 on Umerkot campus and 220 at other centres.

Strict security measures were put in place at all centres. Walkthrough gates were installed and police and SAU security personnel were deployed to ensure a peaceful and smooth holding of the exercise.

SAU Vice Chancellor Dr Fateh Marri visited the main centre, Public School Hyderabad, to oversee the arrangements. He noted that the large turnout of candidates reflected people’s growing interest in SAU’s undergraduate programmes.

He said that the university was introducing new market-oriented degree programmes aimed at equipping students with modern agricultural knowledge and skills essential for contributing to the country’s development.

The VC pointed out that special fee packages for female students at Khairpur College of Agricultural Engineering and Technology and the Umerkot campus were offered, besides various scholarships for deserving students.

He further said that inclusion of women in agriculture sector was a game-changer and that university was committed to providing every possible opportunity for their success in this field.

Senior faculty members, deans and heads of administrative departments were also present at the centre.
