Wardens suspended for misbehaving with bikers

LAHORE: Four wardens were suspended from service for misbehaving with motorcyclists for not wearing helmets in Multan on Saturday.

The wardens were deputed on Bosan Road to check the helmet of the motorcyclists. The warden stopped two bikers and asked for the driving licence and helmet. The riders pulled out their mobile phones and started filming the scene. The wardens got enraged and clashed with the motorcyclists. The wardens were identified as Imran, Yaseen, Aamir and Qaiser Iqbal.

Multan City Police Officer (CPO) Sadiq Ali Dogar took notice of the incident and directed Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Sardar Mavarhan Khan to hold inquiry into the incident and submit its report to take action against wardens.

He also said that strict action would be taken against the policemen involved in torturing the citizens and departmental action would also be taken against them.

Meanwhile, the CTO suspended four wardens from service and constituted a team to hold an inquiry into the matter.

He said that a DSP level official was made head of the inquiry team and further action would be taken after the probe findings.
