One killed, another injured in separate incidents
TAXILA: One person was killed and another injured in different parts of Attock district on Monday, police sources said.
In the first incident, the bullet-riddled body of a man in his 30s was found from a deserted place in the limits of Hazro police station. According to a police spokesman, some passersby spotted the body in the fields and informed police who arrived at the scene and shifted it to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital.
The spokesman said the man was killed somewhere else and his body was thrown in the area to conceal the crime. The body has yet to be identified.
Separately, a man was shot and injured in Burhan area in the limits of Hassanabdal police station on Monday. Zeeshan Sarwar reported to police that he was going towards his village when two persons riding on a motorcycle intercepted him and shot him. Later the injured was shifted to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital.
Meanwhile, a man was kidnapped from the limits of Wah Cantonment police station on Monday.
Mumtaz Hussain Shah reported to police that his 45-year-old brother Sajjad Hussain Shah went out of his house when two persons kidnapped him. Police registered a case against the nominated suspects and launched hunt to trace him.
Meanwhile, a special court for the Control of Narcotic Substances (CNS) in Attock sentenced a man to 16-year imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs150,000 in a drug peddling case.
Mohammad Bukhtair was arrested in January while selling drugs in Hazro police area. Subsequently a case was registered against him under section 9-C of control of narcotics substance act 1997.
Additional Sessions Judge Sadaqat Hussain Malik, after hearing arguments of defence and prosecution, announced the verdict.
During the proceedings, the public prosecutor argued that the accused was caught red-handed while smuggling the contraband and the evidence on record fully connected him with the commission of the offence.
