Police service centre opened in AJK’s Dadyal area

MUZAFFARABAD: A ‘Police Khidmat Markaz’ (service centre), offering a range of essential services under one roof, was inaugurated by the Azad Jammu and Kashmir’s (AJK) police chief in Dadyal.

The centre was constructed on a self-help basis through an initiative of the AJK police department, actualised by two local officers — DSP Ansar Ali and SHO Rashid Habib Masoodi — who successfully rallied local dignitaries to contribute to the project

Dadyal, located along the banks of Mangla Lake, is one of the most prosperous areas of AJK, with many residents holding dual nationality and several prominent in the UK as political, social, and business figures.

IGP Rana Abdul Jabbar commended DSP Ali, SHO Masoodi, and their team for their dedication in constructing and operationalising the centre for the benefit of the community.

The officers who earn the trust of the public, prompting them to willingly spend their hard-earned money on community projects, deserve due recognition and appreciation,” he said.

He also expressed gratitude to the local donors who contributed financially to the project.

“It’s heartening to see the people here actively participating in collective welfare efforts. Such individuals are the true assets of any society,” the IGP observed.

SHO Masoodi explained that before the establishment of the Khidmat Markaz, residents had to travel 70 kilometres to Mirpur for services such as character certificates, the Overseas Desk, the Ladies Complaint Cell, the Child Protection Unit, driving license applications, and senior citizen assistance, causing significant time and financial losses.

“Thanks to the Khidmat Markaz, all these services will now be accessible under one roof in Dadyal itself,” he said.

At the conclusion of the ceremony, the IGP distributed shields to the dignitaries who supported the project and to the police officers who ensured its timely completion.
