UET workshop on risk management
LAHORE: The University of Engineering and Technology (UET) conducted a two-day workshop on “Bowtie – Barrier Based Risk Management.”
UET Department of Chemical, Polymer & Composite Materials Engineering organised the workshop for the MS Safety, Health & Environment (HSE) of students.
Led by Engr. Rashid Mahmood from Fauji Fertilizer Company, the workshop provided students with valuable insights into advanced safety techniques.
It covered key methodologies like Bowtie risk assessment, BS-CAT (Barrier Systematic Cause Analysis Technique), and Root Cause Analysis (RCA), designed to enable the participants to apply these tools to complex risk evaluations and real-world incident investigations.
UET Vice Chancellor Prof Shahid Munir, Chemical Engineering Department Chairman Prof Hafiz Zaheer Aslam and others attended the closing ceremony of the workshop.
Prof Munir highlighted the significance of hands-on training in enhancing decision-making and promoting a strong safety culture within industries.
PHD: Punjab University has awarded PhD degree to Huma Sadaf in the subject of Communication Studies after approval of her thesis entitled ‘Effects of News Media and Masculine Dominance on Women’s Political Efficacy in Lahore, Pakistan’.
She completed her research work under the supervision of Prof Bushra H. Rehman and Prof Lubna Zaheer.
Ms Sadaf is working with the PTV as a senior journalist.
