INCOMPETENT ADMINISTRATION

INCOMPETENT ADMINISTRATION: After the local bodies elections, people in Karachi were hoping for a positive change, and had high expectations from the mayor as he belonged to the party that has been ruling the province for long. However, the situation has gone from bad to worse. A few moderate rain spells recently exposed the poor quality of con-struction on various roads and streets across the city. There seems to be no system of checks and balances in place. Teen Talwar in Clifton is a major inter-section and yet the roads surrounding it are in a shambles. Similarly, the expressway from Qayyumabad to Baloch Colony has developed potholes, affecting the flow of traffic. The streets in Gulshan-i-Iqbal tell their own stories of sheer neglect. This incompetence is prevalent everywhere in Karachi, but nobody seems to bother.

POSTPONING PAPERS: The Unive-rsity of Turbat (UoT) cancels and postpones papers at the eleventh hour. As such, when questioned to give the reason for the postponment or cancealation, the administration cites mean-ingless issues. Unfortunately, this practice is getting more common with time. At least three papers were postponed recently. The students, who invest hours in preparation, get badly disturbed by such sudden decisions. They lose motivation and focus, and are unable to perform well in exams later on. The university does not have decent facilities, including pro-per supply of electricity. The authorities concerned must do something about it.

PROBE NEEDED: There should be an independent probe into the recent disappearance of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur in mysterious circumstances. The relevant authorities must clear up the ambiguity to prevent public misinformation and blame games surrounding the disappearance. This would help the masses understand what kind of political manipulation, if any, was at play.
