Johnny Cash honoured with a statue at the US Capitol

A statue of Johnny Cash was unveiled at the US Capitol in Washington, D.C., making him the first musician honoured in National Statuary Hall. The ceremony featured lawmakers, family members, and the US Air Force band performing Cash’s hit “I Walk the Line.”

Roseanne Cash, Johnny’s daughter, spoke about her father’s legacy, calling his statue a symbol of achieving the American dream. She highlighted his passion for social causes, including prisoners’ rights and support for Native Americans and impoverished children. Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders and other officials also paid tribute.

League of Legends releases Worlds anthem by Linkin Park

League of Legends has officially unveiled its 2024 World Championships anthem. The popular video game released a single and music video for the song “Heavy is the Crown”, performed by Linkin Park’s Mike Shinoda and the band’s new singer Emily Armstrong.

The video shows animated versions of Linkin Park performing in a white castle. Members of pro-League teams are seen storming the fortress, hoping to best-reign world champions T1. The video ends with T1’s Faker placing the crown on a throne and heading out with teammates Zeus, Oner, Gumayusi and Keria to defend their title.

This year’s Worlds is taking place from September 25 to November 2 in the cities of Berlin, Paris and London. The championship match will be held at The O2 Arena in London.

WIF celebrates 2024 honourees

Kate Winslet, Kerry Washington and Annette Bening are set to be honoured at this year’s WIF (Women in Film) Honours on October 24. Winslet will receive the Crystal Award for Advocacy in Film along with her Lee director Ellen Kuras. Washington will be recognised with the Entrepreneur in Entertainment Award for her contributions to both the creative and business sides of entertainment. King will receive the WIF Max Mara Face of the Future Award for her acting and producing work. Additional honourees include Michelle Buteau, Danielle Sanchez-Witzel and Annette Bening.
