E-commerce training programme begins for Bajaur youth

BAJAUR: Speakers at the opening ceremony of an e-commerce training course here on Saturday stressed the need for the youth to acquire digital skills to be empowered economically.

The ceremony was held at Governor Model School and College (boys’ section) in Civil Colony, Khar.

Deputy commissioner Shahid Ali Khan, Khar assistant commissioner Dr Sadiq Ali, digital and e-commerce experts and students and youths attended the opening ceremony of the three-month-long free e-commerce training course.

A total 1,000 candidates applied for the course being arranged jointly by the district administration and a private digital outlet, but only 70 were selected for the course after screening tests, which were conducted a week ago.

The speakers said the training course was designed to educate the participants about the methods and skills of e-commerce, which employs millions of people around the world.

They said that unprecedented expansion and development of e-commerce had transformed the world, showing that the current era was of the digital trade and business.

The speakers observed that like the rest of the country, there was a great potential of e-commerce in Bajaur, saying that the training course would introduce the local youth to digital ways of doing business.

On the occasion, deputy commissioner Shahid Ali Khan said that the district administration was committed to providing such training to more youth by extending the initiative to other parts of the district.

He said e-commerce was the easiest way to empower the youth economically.
