Kohat hospital staffers protest suspension of colleagues

KOHAT: A joint protest meeting of doctors, paramedics and nursing associations condemned suspension of several employees of the Liaquat Memorial Hospital (LMH) and demanded their immediate reinstatement.

Addressing a protest meeting here on Saturday, the representatives of doctors and paramedics associations including Dr Ubaid Afridi and Rashid Bokhari criticised the parliamentarians for not making efforts to upgrade the medical facilities at the district’s hospitals to give relief to the poor masses of Kurram, Hangu, Orakzai, Karak, Bannu,, and Jand areas.

They said that stakeholders should sit together for the resolution of all issues concerning finances, human resources, and long-due promotions of hospitals’ staff. They said that the divisional hospital and LMH lacked vital medical equipment including MRI machine due to which the patients with head injuries had to be shifted to Peshawar hospitals.

ACCUSED HELD: The district police arrested a man on charges of making immoral videos of teenage boys to extort money from them.

According to a statement of the DPO’s office, the accused identified as Ubaidullah, a resident of Muslimabad, had allegedly harassed his victims by uploading their immoral videos on social media, extorted money and subjected them to sexual assaults.

Police registered a case against the accused in Jarma police station under sections 328 A, 369, 292A, and 292 C, the statement added.

Moreover, Jarma police busted a two-member gang of cattle thieves and recovered goats and a motorcycle from the custody of the accused.

The gangsters were identified as Mohammad Hazratullah of Nasratkhel and Suleman of Junglekhel police are busy in further investigation.
