Gandapur granted protective bail till Nov 14

PESHAWAR: Peshawar High Court on Tuesday granted protective bail to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur and directed law enforcement agencies not to arrest him in any of the cases till Nov 14.

A bench consisting of Justice Syed Mohammad Attique Shah and Justice Sahibzada Asadullah directed an additional attorney general, Sanaullah Khan, to seek details from the federal government about cases registered against Mr Gandapur and submit it to the court.

The bench was hearing a petition filed by Mr Gandapur, seeking protective bail and directives for the federal government to provide details of cases registered against him in Islamabad and Punjab.

The petitioner appeared along with the advocate general, Shah Faisal Uthmankhel, and said that he approached the court in connection with certain cases, but subsequently came to know that more cases were registered against him.

When Justice Attique Shah asked whether he had approached the federal government to get details of his cases, he stated that he came to know that he had been nominated in certain cases in Punjab.

Addressing the additional attorney general, the bench observed that it was right of every citizen that he should be provided information about the cases against him. The bench also observed that he represented the federal government and he should be providing the required information.

The additional attorney general stated that they could provide details about cases in Islamabad, but couldn’t seek the information from Punjab government.

The bench directed him to get the relevant information from the law enforcement agencies and submit it by Nov 14, the next date for hearing of the petition.
