20 PTI activists arrested in May 9 riots case

LAKKI MARWAT: At least 20 activists of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf, including three tehsil council chairmen, were arrested by the police for their alleged involvement in May 9, 2023 riots after the Anti-Terrorism Court in Bannu dismissed their bail-before-arrest here on Tuesday.

The PTI leaders and activists were present in the court for hearing of their BBA applications.

After the ATC revoked their bails, a police party led by SHO Zaheer Khan detained 20 PTI leaders. Later, the court remanded the arrested leaders for three days.

They included Miryan tehsil council chairman Pir Kamal Shah, Kakki tehsil council chairman Junaid Rasheed Khan, Domel tehsil council chairman Israr Khan, Malik Adnan Khan, Malik Hikmatyar Khan, brother of provincial minister Malik Pakhtoonyar Khan, Malik Gul Baz Khan, brother of former provincial minister Malik Shah Mohammad Khan, Malik Iqbal Jadoon, Malik Shakeel Khan, Sikandar Hayat Khan, Khalid Riaz Khan, Shab Niaz Khan, Nek Rehman, Fidayatullah Khan, Malik Akbar Khan, Ahmadullah Khan, Sharif Zaman Khan, Waqar Younas Khan, Masoom Wazir, Pir Hasan Ali Shah and Sher Mohammad Khan Wazir.

These leaders were charged with damaging public and private properties, preventing public servants from discharging their official duty, arson, rioting, sedition, violation of Official Secrets Act and terrorism.
