Sindh govt set to introduce double-decker buses in Karachi

KARACHI: The Sindh government is set to introduce double-decker buses in the metropolis to ease the chronic issue of transport, announced Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Memon on Tuesday.

Minister Memon, who also holds the portfolios of transport, information, excise and taxation, said this while chairing a meeting here at his office.

According to a press release, the minister said that efforts were underway to procure the double-decker buses and directed the Sindh Mass Transit Authority officials and others to expedite the process.

“We are committed to modernising public transport in Karachi. This initiative by the Sindh government will significantly enhance the urban transport system, offering citizens an affordable and comfortable travel,” he said.

He mentioned the importance of swift implementation to meet the city’s growing transport needs.

The meeting also decided to purchase 50 new buses for the Peoples Bus Service.

Mr Memon also called for early completion of the bus stations for the Peoples Bus Service.
