CAMPBELLPUR: Chaudhri Ghulam Abbas, Supreme Head of the Azad Kashmir Government, strongly protested against India’s election to the Security Council while addressing a [large] public meeting here yesterday [Oct 21]. He said India’s election to the Security Council at this stage is a threat to world peace. By allowing a culprit to sit as a judge, the UN had lost the confidence and faith of the Muslims, he said. “This election was not only against the [principles] of equity and justice, but also against the very ideas and purpose of the United Nations.”

“Instead of helping us solve the Kashmir dispute peacefully, it is bound to disrupt the peace of the whole world,” he added.

Condemning the designs of Hindus supported by the other capitalist nations, [he] said this was an outcome of the present tendencies of the capitalist nations, and is a matter of neither regret not surprise in view of their attitude towards the Muslim countries. The happenings in Palestine, Indonesia, and Egypt are a warning to us, he said. “The Hindu capitalists have joined hands against the small nations particularly the Muslim world. They have once more violated the basic principles of liberty, justice and democracy.”
