FIA arrests ‘herbal healer’ for online exploits

TOBA TEK SINGH: A cybercrime wing team of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) in Multan arrested Hakeem Muhammad Shahzad on Wednesday.

Shahzad rose to fame on social media for promoting herbal medicine after marrying Dania Shah, the widow of the late anchorperson and former federal minister Dr Amir Liaquat Hussain.

A press release said that Shahzad uploaded videos online mocking an alleged rape incident involving a student from a private college in Lahore.

The authorities seized his mobile phone, which contained materials related to these controversial videos, TikTok accounts, and messages involving the exploitation of women.

A first information report was registered against him and his accomplices, including Chacha Siraiki, with further legal actions initiated.

ACCIDENT: A man died and four others were injured in a car accident near Chak 328-GB on Pirmahal-Shorkot Cantonment Road on Wednesday evening.

According to Rescue 1122, all five people were from the same family in Sindhillianwali, Chak 675/16-GB, who were on their way to visit the shrine of Hazrat Sultan Bahu in Jhang.

The deceased was identified as 18-year-old Wajid. The injured included brothers Husnain (30), Saqlain (28) and Ali (25) and their cousin Husnain Mushtaq (19). All injured were shifted to Pirmahal THQ Hospital for treatment.

FDA: An enforcement team from the Faisalabad Development Authority (FDA) thwarted attempts to establish two illegal housing schemes in Faisalabad.

Under the supervision of Town Planning Director Asma Mohsin, State Officer Anib Aslam Randhawa led the operation against unauthorised developments known as Ahmed Town and Musthaq City, located in Chak 61-JB. The team demolished unauthorised construction, including walls, sewers and roads.

SUICIDE: Imran Ali, who was accused of a killing a Sahianwala-based police constable, Shahid Haleem, died by suicide on Wednesday. His two accomplices Gulfam and Irfan had already been arrested by police.

They had shot dead the cop over an enmity a few weeks ago.

Imran was on interim bail before arrest granted by a court.

MEETING: A delegation from the Christian community in Jaranwala met Commissioner Silwat Saeed on Wednesday.

The delegation, which included Samuel Pyara from the Minority Rights Forum, Prof Anjum James and Parvez Masih, praised the measures taken by the government for the rehabilitation of victims following a recent tragedy.

They commended the swift provision of financial assistance to affected families.

The commissioner assured the delegation that steps would be taken to address compensation payments for the land acquired by the government adjacent to a church on Jhang Road in Faisalabad.
