Two robbers killed by school guard
NAROWAL: Two robbers were killed in firing by a security guard at a school here on Wednesday in Sialkot.
According to the application submitted to the police by Syed Zeeshan Ali, a security guard at a private school on Pasrur Road, he was on duty when teacher Qari Rashid Mahmood arrived at the school’s main gate on a motorcycle. Two masked robbers attempted to snatch the motorcycle at gunpoint.
When the teacher resisted, the robbers opened fire. In response, the security guard opened fire during which both robbers were seriously injured.
Zeeshan Ali immediately reported the incident via the police helpline 15. Nikapura Inspector Muhammad Akram Shehbaz along with a police team, arrived at the scene. The injured robbers were taken into custody and they succumbed to their injuries on way to hospital.
District Police Sialkot Spokesperson Malik Waqas identified the deceased robbers as Khudadad alias Abdullah, a resident of Afghan Camp, Kalabagh, Mianwali, and Baran Khan, a resident of Saggian Pul, Lahore.
He claimed the suspects were wanted in over 50 FIRs across 27 police stations in Lahore, including Mughalpura, Qila Gujjar Singh, Liaquatabad, Civil Lines, Gulshan-i-Ravi, Kot Lakhpat, Samanabad and Gulberg. They were also wanted in a robbery case in Rawalpindi.
Police have registered an FIR against the deceased robbers on the complaint of security guard Zeeshan Ali.
The investigation team collected evidence and recorded statements from eyewitnesses at the scene.
The bodies of the robbers were sent to a government hospital for a postmortem examination and further legal procedures.
Malik Waqas said weekly surprise search operations are being conducted under the directives of District Police Officer (DPO) Rana Umar Farooq, especially in new residential areas. These operations involve the Elite Force, special branch and other agencies.
