Renowned academician passes away

DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Renowned academician Dr Fazal Raheem Qasuria passed away due to cancer here on Wednesday.

He left behind a son and four daughters to mourn his death. His funeral prayers were offered in Qasuria Town on Multan Road. A large number of people life including government officials, politicians, religious scholars and local elders attended his funeral.

The brother of former provincial minister Abdul Haleem Qasuria, Dr Fazal Raheem was considered an authority on mass communication. He obtained his master degree in English from University of Peshawar. He got a gold medalist in master of journalism from Gomal University.

He also obtained MS and PhD degrees in mass communication from the USA. He served mass communication departments of Gomal University and Allama Iqbal Open University as a chairman. Later, Dr Fazal Raheem joined International Islamic University, Malaysia. On his return from Malaysia, he was appointed a professor at National University of Sciences and Technology.
