KARACHI: Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto has called upon the business and industrial community to put itself to the task of rapid reconstruction of the economy... . He was addressing [the] country’s prominent businessmen and industrialists in Karachi last night [Oct 23]. … Mr Bhutto … said he was now finally telling them that “we do not want to nationalise any more industries or to take over any more factories during our term of office”.

While giving this assurance, Mr Bhutto told his audience that they should not think “we have made any mistake”. Whatever steps were taken in … the economic sphere, were in accord with the Manifesto of the Pakistan People’s Party. He further said that they should also not think that the Government was swinging from one end to the other. ...

Prime Minister Bhutto said that changes in the economic sphere were taking place all over the world. “Change is the order of the day. Change must come on its own”. … “I want you to anticipate in the change and adapt yourself without getting upset. …” The Prime Minister said that chaos and anarchy would never be allowed.
