City remains in grip of hot, dry weather

KARACHI: The city remains in the grip of hot and dry weather as the mercury soared above 39 degrees Celsius on Thursday.

According to a meteorological department’s advisory, hot and dry weather conditions would persist in Karachi, Sujawal, Thatta, Umarkot and Tharparkar districts during the next three to four days.

The daytime maximum temperature in these cities is expected to range between 37 and 39 degrees Celsius.

“Wind flow is likely to remain from north/northwest during the first half of the day,” the advisory stated.

The Met office says that the current weather is “pretty normal” as the city is experiencing a transition period, moving away from the monsoon to the winter. The Met office says that low pressure developed over the Arabian Sea is blocking the sea breeze, which has increased temperatures in the city.
