Seven held for attack on official vehicles

TOBA TEK SINGH: Seven people were arrested on Sunday on the charge of firing on a Navy vehicle that left an official and a soldier injured near a village in the Sandalbar police station area of Faisalabad on Saturday night.

In his FIR registered under sections 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act and 324, 440, 148 and 149 of PPC, complainant soldier/driver Shahbaz Hussain said he was driving back to Faisalabad along with official Arshad Gondal in a convoy a after attending funeral prayers of the uncle of soldier Muhammad Ahmad Gujjar.

When they reached near Chak 36-JB, eight persons opened indiscriminate fire as a result official Arshad Gondal and another soldier Rana Muhammad Ramzan were injured and admitted to the Allied hospital.

The driver identified the attackers as Tahir alias Tahra Gujjar, Waqas Nazir, Fahad Manzoor, Nasir Mahmood, Faisal Shakeel and their three unidentified accomplices.

CPO Kamran Adil visited the hospital and inquired about the health of the injured. He said seven out of the eight accused had been arrested and raids were being conducted to arrest the eighth.

Reports said the accused had enmity with soldier Muhammad Ahmad Gujjar of their village.
