ISLAMABAD: Golra police and homicide unit police teams have apprehended a suspect involved in the murder of his sister, a public relations officer said.

A citizen filed a complaint with Golra police station, alleging that his niece had been murdered by her brother Upon receiving information, Golra police registered a case and initiated investigation.

“Utilising modern technical and scientific methods, Golra police and homicide unit swiftly apprehended the suspect and recovered the murder weapon from his possession,” the official said.

Senior police officials said capital police were carrying out indiscriminate actions to combat crimes, violence and murder incidents.

“Strict legal action will be taken against the accused, leading to appropriate punishment, and that the accused will be prosecuted based on solid evidence. Moreover, Islamabad police are utilising all available resources to protect the lives and property of citizens. People are also urged to cooperate with the police and report any suspicious person or activity to the relevant police station or the emergency helpline ‘Pukar-15’ to help make Islamabad crime-free,” he said.

Meanwhile, Lohi Bher police team apprehended two wanted members of a bike lifters’ gang involved in numerous bike-lifting activities and recovered two motorbikes from their possession, a public relations officer said.

“During preliminary investigation the accused confessed to being involved in numerous bike-lifting activities. All officials have been directed for effective crackdown against the accused involved in car and bike-lifting incidents. The performance of police officers would be reviewed on a continuous basis,” the official said.
