Inflated bill; no default, says Zoo Safari admin

LAHORE: The Punjab Wildlife Department has accused the Lahore Electric Supply Company (Lesco) of releasing wrong news to the media that claimed disconnection of power supply to the Lahore Zoo Safari Park.

“The Lesco, in fact, didn’t disconnect power supply to the Safari park, as there was no issue related to this on Saturday onward. But, contrary to the facts, the Lesco spokesman office released wrong news to media claiming disconnection of electricity supply to the park. And this is not fair,” a spokesman for the wildlife department deplored .

Talking to Dawn on Monday, he claimed that for the last few months there was an issue concerning overbilling of Rs20 million. The Lesco people admitted their fault and promised to adjust this huge amount in the upcoming bills.

“But, unfortunately, the company officers didn’t fulfill their promise. And later they released wrong news about suspension of power supply to the park,” he added.

He said the department has also taken up this issue with the top Lesco management. The Lesco spokesman was not available for comments.
