Committees to assess education progress

LAHORE: The Punjab government on Tuesday formed nine committees to enhance monitoring and improve academic and administrative standards of all public schools of the province.

These committees, made up of senior officials including the secretary of education, additional secretaries, special secretaries and advisory committee members, will conduct monthly evaluations of schools throughout Punjab.

The committees were tasked with conducting routine visits to at least four schools each month in their respective divisions. The mandate requires visits to two boys’ schools and two girls’ schools per month, ensuring a balanced oversight.

The bodies will assess teaching practices and school management and address gaps in school facilities.

Committees will work closely with district chief executive officers to implement ‘Key Performance Indicators’, which are expected to provide measurable standards for educational improvements across Punjab. The committees are also required to submit detailed reports on their findings and actions on a regular basis.

The nine divisions covered by this initiative include Gujranwala, Sargodha, Sahiwal, Lahore, Rawalpindi, Multan, Bahawalpur, Dera Ghazi Khan, and Faisalabad, as specified in the Education Department’s official notification.
