Three coaches of Sukkur Express derail near Kotri station
DADU: Three coaches of Karachi-bound Sukkur Express jumped off tracks near the Kotri station on Tuesday resulting in disruption of rail traffic on the ‘Up’ tracks for some hours.
No major damage to the bogies or injury to anyone was reported but the passengers of the derailed coaches had to be accommodated in other Karachi-bound trains running on parallel tracks.
Pakistan Railways officials at Kotri said that the technical staff and labourers were rushed to the accident site to immediately undertake repair and restoration work.
They said a relief train was also sent to the site while cranes were employed to put the derailed coaches back on tracks.
The cause of the derailment could not be established immediately, they said, adding that efforts were under way to restore normal rail traffic on the ‘Up’ tracks.
On October 13, two bogies of Karachi Express derailed as soon as the train left the Hyderabad station. It was bound for Lahore. The derailment had caused suspension of rail traffic for quite some time.
No major damage or casualties had occurred in the accident but passengers had felt a massive jerk and jumped out of the bogies in panic.
