Journalists’ safety
SAFETY of journalists in Pakistan has been a cause of concern for long. Journal-ists have faced restrictions under successive governments simply for reporting facts. To make matters worse, those who dare to challenge the government over its alleged wrongdoings have been even kidnapped by armed people believed to be from law-enforcement agencies.
Dozens of journalists have been murdered in the last three decades, and many have faced threats. The media is a vital organ of society as it projects the voice of the masses. The government must ensure that these voices are not muffled, and are, instead, encouraged to bring speak nothing but the truth for the good of the people.
