Iesco received over 30,000 complaints in three months

ISLAMABAD: During a short span of around three months, Islamabad Electric Supply Company (Iesco) received over 30,000 complaints at public meetings (kutcheries).

Out of these 30,000 complaints, around 8,000 (25pc) were about power failures and 2,526 were regarding new connections.

However almost 100pc of the complaints were addressed by taking immediate action.

It is worth mentioning that Iesco Chief Executive Mohammad Naeem Jan has started holding open kutcheries frequently in which he himself hears the problems and complaints of the consumers and ensures that every complaint would be addressed at the earliest.

According to Iesco spokesperson, Mr Jan gets reports over the complaints on daily basis and also seeks report about the pending complaints so that they would be addressed without any delay.

The data shared by the company shows that since July 15, Iesco received a total of 33,691 complaints out of which 33,682 were addressed and necessary instructions have been issued to the concerned offices for immediate resolution of nine pending complaints.

“During the open kutcheries, Iesco received 850 complaints of over-billing, 1,434 of defective meters, 7,895 of power failures, 78 of defective transformers, 2,526 of new connections and 20,908 miscellaneous complaints,” it stated.

Chief Executive Mohammad Naeem Jan has said: “The open kutcheries are a reflection of the performance of the officers and staff and because of them, a relationship of trust and friendship is being established between the institution and the customers and will continue the relationship successfully.”

While issuing instructions to the field formations, he said a professional and friendly attitude should be taken with the customers participating in the open kutcheries, and proper seating and clean drinking water should also be arranged for them.
