10 candidates vying for two seats of Wah Cantonment Board
TAXILA: The cantonment executive officer on Wednesday issued a final list of 10 candidates vying for the upcoming by-elections in two wards of Wah Cantonment Board as polling is scheduled to be held on November 14 from 8am to 5pm.
The executive officer has been nominated as election commissioner to supervise the elections.
These by-elections are set for the two different wards four and eight of the Wah Cantonment Board.
In Ward 4 of the Wah Cantonment Board, prominent candidates are Amjad Mehmood from PTI, Malik Saleem from PML-N and Mohammad Zaman from Tehrik-i-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP).
For Ward 8, prominent candidates include Zahid Amin from PTI, Pervaiz Iqbal from PML-N, Tauseef Ahmed from TLP and Sohail Ahmed, independent candidate from traders’ platform.
PML-N, TLP and PPP respective candidates have been awarded party symbols --lion, crane and arrow -- but due the candidates contesting from PTI ticket are not awarded party symbol bat and they are considered as independent candidates and were awarded symbol of cattle in both constituencies.
The local bodies’ elections in the cantonment area of Wah were held on September12, 2021. It is the second by-election in the Cantonment Board Wah as two seats fell vacant one in ward 4 where the elected councilor Malik Arif Mehmood resigned after developing differences with the Cantonment Board authorities and ward 8 was declared vacant after councilor Malik Fahad was elected as member of the Punjab Assembly on a PTI ticket.
