Two people shot dead in Charsadda

CHARSADDA: Two people were killed when unidentified motorcyclists opened firing on a passenger pick-up in Shabqadar tehsil on Thursday.

Police said that the victims were sitting on the front seat of the moving vehicle when the attackers opened fire. The deceased were identified as Nazir Khan and Sardar, residents of Prang tehsil of Mohmand tribal district. The attackers escaped the area after the incident.

Sources said that the motive behind the incident was stated to be an old enmity between the slain men and the attackers. The police registered a case against two accused and started investigation.

DRUG DEALER KILLED: A man involved in ice drug selling was killed during an encounter with police in the Hissara area.

The city police registered a case and stated that the police raided a hideout where the accused was selling ice drug. Seeing the police, the accused opened fire at police party. In retaliatory firing, the accused identified as Anwar Ali, alias Akbar Ali was injured. He was shifted to the hospital where he died. The police claimed to have recovered ice-drug sachets and a pistol from his possession.

AWARENESS SESSION: In order to encourage a community response to weather disasters, climate resilience awareness session was arranged that included participants of all ages, genders, and disabilities.

The event was organised by the National Integrated Development Association (NIDA) Pakistan with the support of HelpAge International, said a statement.

Officials of agriculture, forestry, public health, water management, youth affairs, Bacha Khan University and other government departments and civil society members attended the session.

Speakers including Shahzad Khaskheli and Faisal of HelpAge International shed light on the aims and objectives of the session, and said that climate resilience had been organised regarding age, gender, disability and knowledge hub to promote cooperation among stakeholders and share expertise in this regard.
