Two killed by falling debris

KARACHI: Two labourers were killed and another was injured when debris fell on them while they were digging to lay a power cable for a private company near Razzaqabad off National Highway on Monday, police said.

The police said that the victims worked for a contractor for the K-Electric.

Malir SP Saeed Rind told Dawn that a massive pile of mud, which had built up during excavation, suddenly collapsed on the labourers who were busy digging.

He said that rescue teams were called and they managed to rescue a labourer and retrieve bodies of two young men.

Meanwhile, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah took notice of the incident and sought a detailed report from Karachi police chief, said a CM House spokesperson.
