Okara railway station goes dark over bill default

OKARA: There is no electricity supply to the Model City Railway Station for the last five days as the power connection to the station has been severed over nonpayment of electricity bills.

As a result, there is complete darkness at the railway station building and employees colony while the signal system and water supply turbine are also non-functional. On the other hand, the department is facing loss as there is no issuance of tickets for the commuters of six trains.

The Lesco authorities disconnected the power supply over Rs5.7m electricity bills default. After power supply disconnection, there was no potable water available at the station building.

It’s important to mention that some months back, the power supply was disconnected due to nonpayment of monthly electricity bills.

ARRESTED: During the last 24 hours, police recovered 26kg charas from three drug peddlers in the district.

In the area of Saddar Dipalpur near Bali Mor Haveli Road, patrol police, headed by Muhammad Iqbal Liaqat, arrested Momin Pathan, a resident of Haveli Lakha, and recovered 12,200 grams of charas from him.

Haveli police intercepted one Rafique, a resident of 1/SP Wasewala, and recovered 10,240 gram charas from him while City B Division police nabbed Fuad Ali, a resident of Samadpura, and seized 3,600 gram charas from him.

The police stations concerned registered separate cases.
